Some business persons at Buea Town Market, situated locality in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon are counting losses after their shops went up in flames on Monday night.
Nine shops were affected as a result of the inferno which started when traders had left the market in the evening.
Eyewitnesses have attributed the incident outbreak to an electrical fault and constant power cuts.
“I am stranded, and I have no idea what to do,” said a frustrated trader whose shop was ravaged by the flames.
Poor electrical connection has been one of the major causes of fire incidents in Cameroonian markets today. Government’s solution seems to be far-fetched.
