By Tata Mbunwe.

The road accident that occurred at Moliwe, Limbe, South West Region of Cameroon has claimed the lives of six — leaving 20 others injuries, Official statistics have indicated.

Three students died in the incident and three other people, including the driver of the bus that was crashed by a heavy duty truck.

13 of the injured people are critical cases and have been hospitalized at the Limbe Regional Hospital, while seven others are being treated at the Mutengene Baptist Hospital, MMI has learned from official source.

How it happened

The accident occurred at about 7:30am today at Moliwe, near Mile 4 motor park in Limbe, as the bus was transporting students from Limbe to Government Technical High School Ombe.

The sand truck is said to have lost control before crashing into the bus, killing its driver and at least six students. The front side of the bus was completely twisted while the truck tumbled by the roadside.

Images from the accident scene are gruesome. Women could be heard wailing as bodies of school children littered the road.

Injured victims are said to have been transported to the Limbe Regional Hospital while the deceased were taken to the mortuary.

The accident caused long lines of traffic along the Limbe-Mutengene road for over an hour.

It is happening on the same day students are receiving their report cards to mark the end of Second Term for Primary and Secondary schools in the country.

NB: After a thorough verification from news sources on the ground and from authorities, MMI has learned that six persons died and not twelve as earlier reported. This is a developing story!
