A 36-year-old woman named Raissa Moukoua has been arrested by Gendarmes in Bafoussam, after she dumbed her newborn baby into a latrine.
Fortunately, the baby was rescued alive by the fire fighting unit, after neighbours heard the baby’s cry and alerted them.
Raissa, the mother of six, put to birth at home alone, cut the baby’s umbilical cord and handed the baby in a bucket to her six-year-old son to throw into the toilet.
The six-year-old obeyed his mother’s instruction ignorantly and dumped his younger brother into the toilet.
Reports say neighbors of the 36-year-old Raissa Moukoua were alerted by the baby’s cry from the latrine.
The baby was later rescued by firefighters and rushed to Bafoussam Regional Hospital and is currently under intensive care.
The mother was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
While being questioned by the police, Raissa claimed she was not aware she was pregnant.
She had been abandoned by her husband who also claimed he did not know his wife was pregnant.
