A five-month-old baby recently stolen in Souza, a town on the outskirts of Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon has been discovered in Mutengene, Cameroon’s South West Region.
The baby was stolen on April 13, 2023, shortly after her parents headed to the farm. She was being looked after at home by elder sister.
The baby was later found and identified in Mutengene, a few hours after a missing alert post by MMI was published.
“An unidentified young man took the baby and handed it to an old woman to take care of her,” revealed our source who added that the ceaseless cries of the baby drew the attention of some neighbours.
“A relative staying around the neighborhood helped the lady to identify the baby and immediately got in touch with the parents through his colleague after seeing her pictures on social media,” our source went on.
Once alerted, the parents immediately rushed to Mutengene and alerted security forces who were able to retrieve the baby upon arrival.
The old woman has been taken for questioning, while the whereabouts of the ‘thief’ remain unknown.
