The Ministry of Youth Affairs, MINJEC, has published a list of 348 Cameroonian youths recruited from the 58 Divisions in the country for a training on how to bake using locally made flour.
The training will be done by MINJEC in partnership with a local enterprise called GIC BA- Vert Rouge Jaune.
Minister Monouna Fotso recently signed a partnership agreement with the enterprise on Friday, April 14.
The training, MINJEC wrote, is part of government’s import substitution measures aimed at promoting made in Cameroon products.
Cameroon has relied on imported wheat flour from Ukraine for decades now, but the ongoing war in the country has spurred the need to empower the local industry.
Apart from growing wheat, Cameroon can also obtain flour from cassava, potatoes and plantains.
