Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education has written to Inter Milan Football Club, asking for Andre Onana’s return to the National Football Team.
The plea addressed to the Inter Milan President was contained in a release signed by Narcisse Mouelle Kombi on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
In the release, the Sports Minister asked the Football Club to, “allow this talented goalkeeper, who has so far been one of the strong links of this team, to satisfy his desire and continue to represent his country of origin.”
It should be recalled that Andre Onana’s resigned shortly after he was suspended from the Indomitable Lions squad during the Qatar World Cup
To the Sports Minister, his expulsion was a result of, “a regrettable misunderstanding with the technical staff.”
Immediately after his suspension Onana returned to Italy and continued with his career with Inter Milan,
The current turn of events indicates that Onana’s choice to resign is not acceptable to the Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education.
The question many are asking is why this request is addressed to Inter Milan instead of Onana who resigned.
Some have also questioned why the minister is the one making the request, instead of he Football Federation which was responsible for suspending Onana
