The national executive bureau of the Cameroon Journalists’ Trade Union, CJTU, has reacted to the killing of Journalist Anye Nde Nsoh.

In a release made public Monday May 8, 2023, it’s national President, Marion Obam, condemned the heinous act, calling for perpetrators to face the law .

Anye was shot death by suspected Separatists on Sunday evening in Ntarinkon, Bamenda, North West region of Cameroon.

“The national executive bureau of Cameroon Journalists’ Trade Union, CJTU, has learnt with dismay the tragic death of Journalist Anye Nde Nsoh, reporter for Kick442.com, The Advocate newspaper, Dream FM and others who was shot death on Sunday May 7, 2023 at about 9pm at a leisure spot on Che street Ntarinkon,” the release reads.

According to the statement, Anye was targeted and killed.

“From preliminary information received,it is obvious that our colleague was targeted by those criminals,” said CJTU in a statement on Monday morning.

While extending condolences to the family of the slained journalist, the national bureau condemned such acts likely to tarnish the country’s image.

“……… Firmly condemns this cowardice which further tarnishes the image of our country,” the statement noted.

It adds that, “CJTU demands that the instigators and perpetrators of this heinous crimes be sought, tried, and punished without delay.”

The trade union however encouraged media professionals to continue to play their role in society and not to give into the panic the enemies of the press want to install.
