Residents of Foncha Street in Bamenda, North West region of Cameroon are expressing worries over a quarry plant established in the neighborhood.
The quarry according to residents is constituting a serious environmental hazard.
Concerns are being raised over air, noise, and environmental pollution from the activities of the plant.
“Inhabitants of Bamenda city especially those on Foncha street have been suffering since its creation. It gets worst during the dry season and as it is accompanied by dust,” a resident told MMI
He wondered how a quarry can be established in a neighborhood with all its accompanying effects on humans.
“This is a residential area that has been turned into a factory. The grinding of stones and production of tar can not be done in the midst of residents,” he went on adding, “People get sick on a daily basis because of this.”
