A truck exporting illegal fuel caught fire at Chaoudé village, Far North Region of Cameroon, leaving at least one person injured, MMI has gathered.
The truck in question was said have been heading to Kouserri when it overturned on a hill, causing an explosion.
“The truck was trying to climb up a slope to reach the main track, when the cargo overturned, causing a huge explosion,” narrates an MMI correspondent.
Inhabitants of the said locality watched helplessly as the truck burned to ashes.
Though one of the transporters of the illegal fuel incurred some burns, no human life was lost in the incident.
The material damage incurred was however enormous, as both the truck, estimated to worth more than a hundred million francs, got burnt alongside all the goods.
Survivors of the accident blamed it on poor road condition, but investigations are still going on to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
