Officers of the Cameroon military have inflicted knife wounds on four boys in Bambui, a locality found in the troubled North West Region of Cameroon, Friday, May 26, 2023.

Two motorbikes were also set ablaze by the soldiers.

We got from sources on the ground that the soldiers had just entered the sub-division after passing through difficulties at the hands of separatist fighters in Boyo, another boiling point in the armed conflict in the region when they stumbled on a group of young men and got them severely beaten.

“The boys were accompanying a corpse from Bamenda when they met the military convoy coming from Banbanki. Out of respect, they decided to slow down for the convoy to pass. Little did they know they were getting themselves into serious trouble,” a notable in one of the villages in Tubah said and added that

“the soldiers descended from their armored cars and started beating the boys and using knives on them. Their hair was cut right from the flesh causing blood to flow. Their bikes too were burnt. One wanted to shoot but was asked not to and that no need to waste bullets because they will still die in the hospital.”

The notable added that they could hear the soldiers saying they have gone through difficulties in the Kom land and will resort to the use of weapons of mass destruction to clear the area and import their own persons to settle there.

This is not the first time soldiers are attacking unarmed civilians after suffering attacks from separatist fighters who have been engaged in a bloody war with the government of Cameroon with the aim of creating a country they call Ambazonia.

The administration is yet to react to this latest attack on civilians.
