The ambassador of the United States of America to Cameroon, John Lamora has visited communities hosting internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the West Region of Cameroon.
Accompanied by local and administrative authorities, Ambassador Lamora Monday, July 3, 2023, met and encouraged IDPs fleeing the Anglophone conflict in the North West and South West Regions now living in Dschang and Bafang.
“During his trip to the West Region, Ambassador Lamora met with groups of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Dschang and Bafang. During each meeting, several individuals shared their stories, experiences, challenges, and hopes for the future,” the US embassy in Yaounde said in a post.
MMI gathered that the US diplomat “also thanked the host communities and emphasized the U.S. Embassy’s ongoing support for refugees and IDPs”
It should be recalled that the US government is one of the key partners in the advocacy for a peaceful resolution of the more than seven years armed separatist conflict in Cameroons Anglophone regions that has claimed thousands of lives, caused huge material damage, and forced others into refugee camps.
