Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, has launched a new social media app called Threads.
The Threads app, which officially went operational on July 5th, 2023, is designed to be a more personal and intimate way for users to connect with their friends and followers.
Threads are similar to Twitter in that they allow users to post short messages, photos, and videos. However, threads also include some unique features that set it apart from Twitter.

One of the key features of Threads is that it is integrated with Instagram. This means that users can easily share their Threads posts to their Instagram feed, and vice versa.

Whether or not Threads can ultimately overthrow Twitter remains to be seen. However, the app certainly has the potential to be a major player in the social media landscape.
Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk drags Mark Zuckerberg to court
Barely 24 hours after Mark Zuckerberg launched the rival Threads app, Elon, CEO of Twitter vowed to sue Meta.
Musk sent a letter to Meta CEO, via his lawyer Alex Spiro, warning of potential legal action.
“Twitter has serious concerns that Meta Platforms (Meta) has engaged in systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property,” the letter reads.
The letter also claimed that Meta has hired ‘dozens’ of former Twitter employees and that they have access to the company’s ‘trade secrets.’
Musk’s lawyer also said that many of these employees have ‘improperly retained Twitter documents and electronic devices.
“Competition is good, cheating is not,” Elon Musk wrote on Twitter.
“Feels like the beginning of something special, but we’ve got a lot of work ahead to build the app,” Mark Zuckerberg said on Thursday, after the App was lunched.
Some of the key features of Threads
- Posts are limited to 500 characters, which is more than Twitter’s 280-character limit.
- Posts can include links, photos, and videos up to five minutes long.
- Threads is integrated with Instagram, so users can easily share their Threads posts to their Instagram feed.
- Threads includes a number of privacy features, such as the ability to make posts only visible to close friends or to keep them completely private.
The app is available on App Store and Google Playstore.
