The Douala City Council (DCC) has announced the beginning of work to improve the road network around Sandaga Market and the Bessekè area. The project, which is expected to be completed in six months, will include the widening of roads, the construction of new pedestrian tracks, and the installation of drainage systems.
The DCC says that the project is expected to improve traffic flow in the area and make it safer for pedestrians. Sandaga Market and Place de la Bessekè are two of the busiest areas in Douala, and the current road network is not able to cope with the volume of traffic.
The project is part of the DCC’s broader plan to improve the city’s infrastructure. In recent years, the DCC has invested heavily in road construction and rehabilitation, and it has also made improvements to the city’s water and sanitation systems.
The DCC says that it is committed to improving the quality of life for the people of Douala and that the road improvement project is an important step in that direction.
