Retired Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has finally sealed a dream move to Premier League club, Manchester United from Inter Milan.
Onana who was pursued by several clubs including Chelsea FC and clubs in the Saudi league finally agreed terms with Manchester United in a deal worth over €55 Million.
Andre Onana will sign a 5 years contract will Manchester United, with an option for a 6th, and will immediately replace long-time United goalkeeper David De Gea whose contract expired this July.
Andre Onana signing to Manchester United puts him on the list of the top 5 most expensive football goalkeepers of all time, only behind Kepa of Chelsea who cost €80 Million, and Allison Becker of Liverpool who cost €62, Million.
Onana is a highly-rated goalkeeper who has been linked with a move to United for several months. He is seen as a long-term successor to David de Gea, and his arrival would be a major coup for Erik ten Hag. Onana is a strong and athletic goalkeeper with good reflexes and distribution skills.
He is also good at coming off his line to claim crosses. He is expected to compete with Dean Henderson for the number-one spot at United. The arrival of Onana would be a major boost for United’s goalkeeping department.
He is a young and talented goalkeeper with a lot of potential, and he is sure to be a valuable asset to the team.
Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag is said to be a big fan of Onana, and he believes that the Cameroonian goalkeeper can be a key player for United in the years to come.
