After the discovery of 12 more bodies on Monday, Kenyan police investigating a doomsday cult have now unearthed a total of 403.

At the Shakahola forest in south-eastern Kenya, hundreds of persons associated with the Good News International Church are thought to have starved to death, been severely assaulted, or been strangled.

Paul Mackenzie, the cult leader, allegedly told his members that the world was ending and that they should starve to death so that they would see Jesus.

The charges against Mr. Mackenzie have not yet been filed.

Pastor Nthenge is said to have told his people in Kilifi, which is on the coast, to starve themselves so they could get to heaven faster.
