Four corpses have been retrieved after a three-storey building collapsed in Ngaoundere in the Adamawa Region of Cameroon on Tuesday morning.
Sources say, the four bodies retrieved are members of the family who were trapped under the building when it collapsed.
Firefighters are still on the scene to evacuate other possible survivors.
The incident in Ngaoundere came barely two days after a four-storey building collapsed in Douala, commercial city of Cameroon.
As of July 25, 2023, at least 40 people were reported dead — with desperate search for survivors still underway.
The Douala building collapsed in the early hours of Sunday, July 23, 2023, while its occupants were still asleep.
The Housing Minister, Celestine Ketcha Courtes said the building described by Cameroonian as “building of death” did not have a construction permit. “This is too much and should not be happening in our beautiful cities, if building regulations were respected,” Courtes wrote on twitter after visiting the victims.
Over 20 persons are currently in critical condition, receiving medical attention in different health facilities in the city.
