The Ngannou, Fury fight is over, but the debate on X is about whether the results were rigged.

‘Rigged’ and ‘robbed’ are now trending on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter. Hundreds of thousands have taken to X to describe Fury’s victory as “outright robbery.”

To many X users, Ngannou deserved the win. “Boxing has just robbed Francis Ngannou in front of our faces. The baddest man on the planet, I don’t care what anyone says,” Homelander wrote on X.

Homelander is not alone. Jason also commented saying, “Everybody is watching Francis get robbed by the judges.”

During the fight between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury, which has been described as ‘the battle of the century’, the judges scored 96-93 and 95-94 in his favour, with the third scoring 95-94 to the MMA and UFC Champion.

Sports legends react

Mike Tyson, one of the world’s most professional boxers, said Ngannou is a winner. “The true champ of the evening @francis_ngannou So proud of how you performed,” Mike Tyson wrote on X.

Tyson was Ngannou’s trainer ahead of his fight with Fury.

Cameroon’s football legend, Samuel Eto’o Fils who is President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), described Ngannou as a “champion.”

Eto’s reaction on Facebook

Eto’s post came barely a few minutes after Fury was declared the winner of the fight in Saudi Arabia. He accompanied his post with a picture showing Tyson Fury on the ground during the third round.

Didier Drogba, the former Ivory Coast’s football icon, used a similar picture but asked, “Who’s the winner, Ngannou or Tyson Fury?”

But Kelberto Abi Mubikel shared a contrary view. “Francis N’Gannou couldn’t be allowed to win. It would have been an insult to the Boxing Federation. Francis is not a boxer, and he couldn’t be allowed to take down the world champion in his first match. Get used to it. The world is not a fair place,” Mubikel said.

Fury, 35, tightly fought the match, relying on his jab early on and briefly switching to left-handed in the second round when Ngannou made some headway and even opened a cut above Fury’s left eye.

In the third round, Ngannou, 37, proved he wasn’t going anywhere when he dropped Fury to the floor with an almighty left hook.

Fury has saluted Ngannou’s courage. While Ngannou has accepted defeat, he said he is “getting ready” for future challenges and to take the crown. “This will be the end of the Gypsy King,” Ngannou said before the fight. “I might have come up short today. I’ll come back,” he added as he left the arena..
