Cameroonian rap sensation Askia has officially accepted celebrity chef Dawei’s concert proposal. The initial offer, which involved Askia bringing in 1000 attendees for a fully organised concert by Chef Dawei, gained momentum after an open discussion on social media.
Just three days ago, Askia communicated via social media about declining a free concert offer, emphasising her commitment to viewing music as her primary career and necessitating payment for performances.
In response, Chef Dawei presented an enticing proposition, suggesting a 10 million CFA concert budget if Askia could mobilise 1000 people willing to purchase entry tickets at 10,000 frs. Under this arrangement, Askia would earn 4 million, while Chef Dawei and his team would take home 3 million, with an additional 3 million allocated for refreshments.
In a recent Facebook post, Chef Dawei confirmed that Askia had accepted the offer after a phone call discussion. He shared, “Africa’s finest female rap queen just called, and we might be having the deal.” Askia proposed ticket price variations, stating, “Some of my fans can sacrifice 10k or more for me, but the majority will comfortably go for 1k, 2k, and 5k tickets.” She recommended printing tickets at different price points and gradually selling them over a few months, aiming to reach at least 5 million FCFA worth of ticket sales before the show.
Askia, known as Cameroon’s rap queen, boasts a substantial fan base of around 100,000 followers across her social media platforms. With her proven talent in rap music over the years, the question now arises: Can she successfully draw 1000 people for a concert in Cameroon?
A date has yet to be announced for when the proposed concert will take place.
