Cameroonian musical talents, Phillbill and Libianca, have earned nominations for the 2024 KORA All Africa Music Awards, securing spots among the top forty alongside notable Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage.
The KORA Awards management has outlined that only 20 out of the 40 nominees will emerge as winners. In a tweet from their official Twitter handle (Now X), the KORA Awards encouraged fans to participate in the selection process: “Help shape the Top 40 by voting for your favourite artists. Who deserves to be part of the Top 20 starting on March 1, 2024? Who has captured your ears and conquered your hearts this year?”
Libianca, a rising star in the African music scene, is a Cameroonian singer and BET award winner celebrated for her powerful vocals and soulful lyrics. Notably, she clinched the BET Best New International Act Award in 2023. Libianca’s track “People” has achieved platinum status in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland, while also earning gold certifications in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Denmark. The song boasts over 30 million streams worldwide.
Phillbill, a 31-year-old Cameroonian singer, producer, and sound engineer of the RIDIMZ music group, has made significant strides in the music industry. At the recent Canal d’Or Act 14 Awards, PhillBill secured the award for Best Male Urban Afro Music Artist. Since beginning his music production journey in 2010 under the alias Phillbillbeatz, he has been a key player in producing numerous hits in Cameroonian urban music. His collaborations include renowned artists such as Daphne, Blanche Bailly, Locko, Coco Argentee, Lady Ponce, Ko-c, Mink’s, Mimie, Numerica, Master Robinson, and X-Maleya. Specialising in Afropop and Afrobikossa music, Phillbill is recognised as one of the most influential beatmakers in the Cameroonian music scene.
