A ceremony was held in Konye Health District, which is located in a highly insecure area of the South West Region of Cameroon, due to the ongoing sociopolitical crisis, to recognise and award staff who have been working despite the challenges.
Some of the staff and health facilities of the Konye Health District Service were recognised for their outstanding performance in the discharge of their duties during a prize award ceremony held in Konye Town on Friday, December 22, 2023.
The ceremony was attended by the Divisional Officer (DO) of Konye Subdivision, Attah Moses Ndep, the Brigade commander of Konye, the District Chairman Mr Ahidjo Ngomekal, the representative of Regional Delegate of Public Health South West, Mr. Nnoko Julius, chief of Konye, Ikiliwindi, and Ngolobolo, health personnel, Chief of Centres, Community Health Workers, etc.
During the ceremony, the Chief of Health District Konye, Dr. Henry Nzozone, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the dedication and hard work exhibited by the staff of the health district in providing excellent healthcare services to the population of Konye Health District.
He noted that Konye Health District Services has faced numerous challenges over the years, but the resilience and commitment of the staff have made it possible for them to overcome these obstacles and continue to provide quality healthcare to the community.
“Konye is a highly insecure zone, yet over the past 3 years, these staff have put in their last sweat and blood to ensure the people of Konye receive quality healthcare, which is a fundamental human right,” Dr. Nzozone stated.
He highlighted some of the key achievements of the staff and discussed the importance of recognising their efforts.
The Chief of Health District Konye also provided an overview of the plans they have in place to further improve their services and ensure that the people of Konye continue to receive the best possible care.

- Most dedicated community health workers: Adel Etuke, Eyong Lucas, Solange Ola Ekwalle, Njumbe Leonard Epie, and Mbara Brenda

Speech by the Chief of Health District Konye
In his speech, Dr. Nzozone highlighted the achievements of the Konye District Health Service staff and thanked them for their dedication and hard work. He also outlined the plans for the future of the health service, which include enrolling all targets for universal health coverage in Konye, advocating for the improvement of human resources, investing in the training and development of staff, advocating for more bikes to cover all remaining health facilities, advocating for infrastructural maintenance of all health facilities, advocating for solar power installations for all health facilities, and continuing to collaborate with local and international partners.
Dr. Nzozone concluded his speech by saying, “I would like to once again express my gratitude to the Konye District Health Services Staff for their unwavering commitment to the well-being of our community. Your efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals, and we are truly grateful for your dedication,” before adding, “As we celebrate your achievements today, let us also look forward to the future and the continued growth of our healthcare services. Together, we can ensure that the people of Konye District receive the best possible care, now and in the years to come.”
