The Muslim community in Bamenda on Wednesday, April 10, celebrated the feast of Ramadan with prayers, and feasting in a spirit of unity.
As Muslims worldwide observed the special feast, the Sarki of Old Town issued a heartfelt message calling for unity among Muslims and emphasizing the importance of abiding by the law.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a time of spiritual reflection, prayer, and fasting for Muslims around the globe.
In Old Town, Bamenda, Muslims congregated at the Old Town prayer ground for prayers.
The serene sounds of recitation filled the air as worshippers sought spiritual renewal and guidance during this blessed month.
Still in line with celebrations, Muslims displayed their cultures on the streets of Bamenda before converging at the place of the Sarki.
In a message to the Muslim community, the Sarki of Old Town emphasized the significance of unity, stating, “During this month of Ramadan, let us come together as one community, supporting each other in our spiritual journeys and strengthening the bonds that unite us.”
He highlighted the importance of solidarity and mutual respect among Muslims, encouraging them to stand together in times of joy and hardship.
Additionally, the Sarki urged all Muslims to uphold the laws of the land and remain law-abiding citizens.
“As we engage in acts of worship and reflection, let us also remember our responsibility to respect and follow the laws of our country,” the Sarki emphasized.
Ramadan holds special significance for Muslims as it commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammed.
Fasting during this month is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, symbolizing self-discipline, spiritual growth, and empathy for those less fortunate.
