During his tour of the North West region aimed at rallying support for the party, Osih Joshua Nambangi, the national chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), took a moment to honour the memory of the late party leader, Ni John Fru Ndi.
The North West region, historically a stronghold of the SDF before the escalation of the Anglophone crisis, holds particular significance for the party.
Osih’s visit is seen as a crucial step in rejuvenating the party’s presence in a region deeply affected by nearly seven years of armed conflict.
This marks Osih’s second visit to the region since assuming the chairmanship of the party in October 2023. His previous visit to Bamenda, the headquarters of the North West region, occurred following a devastating fire that engulfed more than 300 shops in the city’s main market.

During his recent visit, Osih made a poignant stop at the grave of the late founding chairman of the SDF, Ni John Fru Ndi, located in Baba II, Santa, Mezam division.
Reflecting on the significance of the moment, Chairman Osih said, “During my stopover at Baba II, I paid homage to the revered memory of our late founder and Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi. It was a solemn occasion, acknowledging the indelible mark he left on our party and our nation.”
Osih also described Fru Ndi as a visionary leader and a relentless advocate for democracy. “His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and the advancement of Cameroon continues to inspire us all,” he stated.
Osih reiterated the party’s dedication to upholding the values and principles cherished by Fru Ndi, affirming, “We stand on his shoulders as we carry forward the torch of his legacy.”
Fongu Cletus Tanwi, the SDF’s regional chairman for the North West, warmly welcomed Osih to the area along with other national party officials. His itinerary includes meetings with party militants and sympathisers.
Osih’s nationwide tour, aimed at engaging with party members across the country, comes at a crucial juncture as Cameroon prepares for a major national electoral consultation next year.
