Three men are reported to have been killed and several others injured in an alleged separatist attack in Kossala, Kumba, on the night of Monday, April 29.

Gunmen believed to be separatist fighters reportedly pulled the victims out of their houses and shot them around 8 pm.

Residents of Kossala recounted hearing gunshots echoing throughout the neighborhood, unable to discern the direction of the gunfire.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown, leaving the community in shock and uncertainty.

While the identity of the perpetrators remains unconfirmed, reports suggest they were separatists who targeted individuals for violating their declaration of a ghost town on Mondays.

This incident comes shortly after an explosive attack in Nkwen, Bamenda, by separatist fighters on the same Monday, though no casualties were reported in that incident.

The escalation of violence in both Kumba and Bamenda underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.

Local authorities have yet to comment on the attack.
