Disgruntled graduates from the University of Buea (UB) who completed their studies in December 2023 are facing a bureaucratic hurdle that threatens their future plans. These graduates have yet to receive their attestations of results, the official document verifying their academic achievements.

“It’s incredibly frustrating,” said Nadia, a December graduate with a conditional offer for a Master’s programme abroad. “The university hasn’t given us a clear explanation for the delay, and my acceptance depends on receiving the attestation. I’m worried the programme will fill up before I can get it sorted.”

The missing documents are causing a ripple effect. “Many of us applied for scholarships and jobs that require proof of graduation,” explained Joseph, another graduate. “Without the attestation, our applications are incomplete, and valuable opportunities are slipping away.”

This delay is creating significant stress for graduates eager to take the next step in their careers. “We worked hard for these degrees,” said Nadia. “The university should be doing everything it can to ensure a smooth transition for us, not adding unnecessary obstacles.”

The University of Buea has not yet issued a public statement regarding the delay. Graduates are calling for immediate action from the administration. “We just want our attestations,” said Joseph. “The university needs to expedite the process and alleviate the uncertainty we’re facing.”

This situation emphasises the significance of prompt communication and streamlined administrative procedures within universities. The graduates of the University of Buea should be provided with a prompt resolution to facilitate a seamless transition into the next phase of their lives.
