Ambazonian separatist fighters in Ndop, Ngoketunja division of Cameroon’s turbulent North West region, have reportedly captured a van belonging to the national gendarmerie, as depicted in a viral video.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, May 7, has been attributed to the Black Lions of Bamali, one of the active armed separatist militias in Ngoketunja division. In the viral video, a certain individual identifying as General Kolambo claims responsibility for the capture.

“I am General Kolambo, father of the Black Lions of Bamali. Who has parked this thing here?” The self-proclaimed general was heard saying, referring to the security vehicle. “I have burnt the truck,” he added amid the sound of thunderous gunshots.

The video shows civilians in a business centre in Ndop while the gendarmerie truck is parked near a black vehicle. It remains unclear whether the truck was abandoned by defense forces or if there was a confrontation between government forces and armed separatist Ambazonian forces that resulted in the capture of the military vehicle.

No casualties have been reported, and there has been no official response from the administration since the video surfaced.
