Mbeng Lilian, known by her stage name Caro, has confirmed her separation from her comedy partner, Lovert Lambe, popularly known as Copees.
The duo ushered in a new breed of comedy in Cameroon, using the pidgin language to portray their lives as “the only married people” on stage.
Their authenticity in acting out the couple roles, coupled with the pride they attached to it, left fans wondering if they were a real life couple.
From their stage names Caro and Copees came the name “Capees”, with which they named their YouTube channels, “Capees Comedy World”.
It has been over five years of collaboration, with Copees always acting side-by-side with Caro until lately. But Copees has left for greener pastures in Canada.
Talking to entertainment journalist MC Debenja on the sidelines of the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF), Caro confessed they are separated.
She admitted anticipating a moment like this.
“We both had the consciousness that we would part ways one day,” she said.

“Aside from comedy, we had different visions and different purposes that we needed to pursue in the future. That is the reason I had my platforms and my connections,” she added.
According to Caro, she had been putting personality first even without Copees.
“Even when Copees left, I was doing comedy alone,” she added.
Copees’ exit from the Capees Comedy World, she added, was something they had long planned for without raising any alarm.
One of the major surprises Caro told her fans in the interview was that she has never dated Copees.
“Guys, Copees and I are not married. Never been in a relationship before. By the nature of what we were doing, we needed to portray that couple vibe.”
The confession came as a shocker to many.
Caro said that, at first, they never gave a clear answer about their relationship status until now that her partner has left. Leaving fans in suspense kept them glued to their comedy.
Despite parting ways, Caro said she still maintains close ties with Copees and always seeks his advice for her comedy skits.
“That is the best partner I have ever had. He played a very great role in my career and my life,” she said.
Aside from comedy, Mbeng Lilian (Caro) and Lovert Lambe (Copees) are notable faces in the Cameroon Film Industry and have featured in a number of movies as individuals.
After their separation, Caro has been releasing short comedy skits on their joint platform.
In pictures shared on Saturday, she hinted about her upcoming “full-blown production,” which will transcend the comedy skits she is known for producing.
