Dr. Aku Joseph Gwe, the National President of the Kedjom Keku Cultural and Development Association (KEKCUDA), has tragically passed away. He was reportedly abducted from his home at Mile 3 Nkwen, Bamenda III subdivision by armed men at about 7 PM on May 22, 2024.
Regrettably, the lifeless body of Dr. Gwe was discovered this morning in an area called “Nkemnkem” in Comprehensive High School, CHS, Bambui, Tubah Subdivision, North West Region of Cameroon. The mortal remains have been transported to St. Blaise Mortuary by the Divisional Officer (DO) of Tubah and the family members.
Dr. Gwe, a veterinary doctor by profession, hails from Big Babanki (Kejom Keku). The sudden and tragic passing of this individual has caused immense shock and grief among both the local community and those further afield.
Currently, there has been no group that has stepped forward to accept responsibility for the murder. Nevertheless, separatist groups in the region have faced accusations of their involvement. It is however, too soon to tell, given that there have been a large number of high-profile assassinations in the Anglophone regions recently, raising suspicions that the conflict is now being used to settle personal scores. An investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the individuals behind this reprehensible act.
The passing of Dr. Aku Joseph Gwe is a profound loss for the Kedjom Keku community and the wider endeavours of cultural and developmental advocacy in the region. His contributions as a leader and a professional were deeply valued, and his passing leaves a void that will be keenly felt by many.
