Monday marked a historic milestone for Cameroon and Chad with the official inauguration of the new bridge spanning the Logone River. The modern infrastructure now links the Cameroonian city of Yagoua with its Chadian counterpart, Bongor, serving as a powerful symbol of deepened unity and cooperation between the two nations.

The inauguration ceremony was co-chaired by Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, and Chadian Prime Minister Allah Maye Halina, acting on behalf of President Paul Biya and Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, respectively. Their joint presence further highlighted the significance of the occasion and the shared commitment to regional integration.

This ambitious project is the fruit of a strategic partnership between Cameroon, Chad, the European Union, and the African Development Bank. It reflects a long-term vision for enhanced regional development and closer ties, both economically and socially.

Meanwhile, the new Logone Bridge features a striking design and will serve as a vital artery for cross-border trade and mobility. The bridge will ease the movement of goods and people between the two countries, stimulating local economies, fostering human exchange, and reinforcing socio-economic cooperation.

The bridge is more than just a physical structure; it is a conduit of opportunity. It further lays the groundwork for a future of shared prosperity, increased trade, and strengthened solidarity in Central Africa.
