The leader of the Ambazonia Defence Forces (ADF) in Bamenda, popularly known as General Weapon, was killed in the North West regional headquarters Sunday, November 24, 2024.

He was killed alongside his deputy, known by the pseudonym Colonel Mami, during a Cameroon military ambush.

The military is reported to have pounced again a few minutes later, killing three more fighters after they gathered to bury General Weapon and Colonel Mami in Nchualam, Mankon-Bamenda.

Soldiers recovered two prado cars which the fighters had seized from denizens and were using for their operations in Bamenda.

The former ADF defense chief, Ngong Emmanuel, popularly known as Capo Daniel, confirmed the killing of the fighters in a social media post.

He wrote, “We bring to you a very sad news this Sunday. General Weapon of the ADF Bamenda Brigade has been killed.”

According to Capo Daniel, who had long parted ways with the ADF, the fighters were killed for inflicting pain on the people.

General Weapon is said to have led separatist fighters to commit several atrocities in the city of Bamenda.

Fingers point at him for the burning of taxes in Bamenda, kidnapping for ransom, extortion in the name of liberation tax, armed robbery, among others.

Based at Alabukam, the deceased separatist commander and his elements had imposed a reign of terror on Bamenda, targeting civilians and private businesses.

They are said to have blocked the Bamenda-Mbengwi road, forcing the local population to access both towns through Bali-Nyonga and other bush roads.

Neither the ADF nor its political wing, the Ambazonia Governing Council (AGoVC), have reacted to the death of someone whom they much applauded.
