The head coach of Cameroon’s national football team has made public a list of 25 players to play against Cape Verde on the 22nd of March and Rwanda on the 30th of March 2021.
Coach Antonio Conceicoa called up three local players among the 25. They are goalkeeper Haschou Kerrido of PWD of Bamenda, center-forward Martin Asomo of AS Fortuna. The two took part in the 2021 African Football Championship. The third local player selected from the under-17 team is defender Meyapya Fongain of Fauve Azur football club.
The coach left out regulars like Njie Clinton, Fai Collins, Christian Basogog, Eric Choupo Moting Ambrose Eyongo Bitolo, Michael Ngadeu among others.
Five players are making a debut in the lions’ den.
The list of players called to camp by the coach has no waiting list. Football pundits think it is a professional error given that the world is passing through a severe health crisis that can disqualify a player from a match once tested COVID-19 positive.
The match against Rwanda on March 30th will take place at the Japoma 50 .000 stadium in Douala.
