Super Eagles Interim coach, Austin Eguavoen has been awarded TotalEnergies AFCON 2021 best group stage manager.
It should be recalled that his is amongst the competing 24 squads. Only the Super Eagles of Nigeria made it through the group stage with nine points from three matches, ahead of Cameroon and Morocco which both came with 7 points each.
Many Cameroonian football lovers have expressed their fears as to the threat posed by the steadfast spirit displayed by Eguavoen’s and Nigeria’s Eagles.
“The way I see the Super Eagles of Nigeria, they didn’t come to Cameroon for a child’s play. Looking at the squad after three matches, I am afraid, they might just take this trophy to Abuja,” a fan said.
While noting that the Super Eagles team has a swift attack line, naming Simon Moses, Samuel Chukwueze, and Ejuke as complete defense dismantling machines, the fan regrets that especially with the jokes portrayed by Indomitable Lions goalkeeper, Andre Onana, the aforementioned players will not hesitate to strike hard in case of a clash between both teams.
It is believed that the success rate of Augustin Eguavoen, the former Super Eagles player, will be his ticket to becoming full-time Super Eagles Head coach, as he came into the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon as an interim coach.
