The former General Manager of the Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV, Gervais Mendo Ze is said to be in critical condition at the Yaoundé Central Prison in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé.
Despite his condition, the regime he served before going to jail is said to have ignored Mendoze.
The once jovial and energetic CRTV GM is reported to now be a shadow of himself, struggling to cope with health challenges.
A former Biya praise-singer, Mendo Ze like many others of his kind found himself behind bars after being sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Special Criminal Court in 2019.
His accomplices were also sentenced to 18 years in prison and asked to pay the sum of 15 billion FCFA representing the damage caused to the state and a fine of 962 million FCFA.
CRTV GM, a cursed gift
Mendo Ze’s successor, Amadou Vamoulke, it should be noted, is in the same prison for a similar charge – embezzlement.
Many have raised worries over whether the issue is that of the said position, or only the two successive administrators have been round pegs in square holes.
Their successive roles and jail trips have also left others wondering the successive happenings from the same state corporation.
