After sixteen months in detention:
Released Stand Up For Cameroon Members Vow To Pursue Activism

Some four members of the Civil Society Organisation, CSO, Stand Up For Cameroon released from detention after sixteen months have vowed to continue with their activism.

The four members of the organisation are said to have been released late Friday January 22. They had been in detention at the New Bell Prison in Douala.

The four members of the organisaion are; Etienne Ntsama, Moussa Bello, Mira Mesa and Tehle Membou. They had been arrested on September 18, 2020.

This was the same period when opposition politician Prof Maurice Kamto and supporters of his Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC, party were mobilising to stage protests nationwide despite administrative bans on such demonstrations.

In a tweet shortly after the concerned were released, the President of the Stand Up For Cameroon Movement, Kabang Walla Edith, the victims had been arrested by the State of Cameroon for no reason.

Kah Walla said mothers of the imprisoned activists had been visiting the courts to ensure their children get justice.

In yet another another tweet on the same matter, Kah Walla noted that the mission to free the said members, was extremely difficult. She said the follow up team had to move from office to office to present the files of those who were behind bars in the quest for their freedom.

“Standupers had to move from office to office, waiting for signatures… Incredible, what a system of justice,” Kah Walla wrote.
