After suspension from AGOA trade deal, IMF holds crucial session on Cameroon

Ahead of its meeting on Cameroon today Wednesday, January 22, 2020, the International Monetary Fund, IMF says it is deeply concerned about the Anglophone Crisis, “particularly on the rising humanitarian crisis.”

While its mandate is “focused on macroeconomic and financial stability,” making it focus “on the impact of the crisis on the economy and the IMF’s program,” the IMF says it is, however, closely monitoring the situation.

In that light, its Executive Board is tentatively scheduled to meet today to discuss its 5th program review.

According to Member of Parliament, Rt Honorable Rishi Sunak , “the UK looks forward to a peaceful resolution of the crisis and expects the IMF will asses the decision of further providing further financing accordingly. ”

Cameroon has already started facing sanctions from the international community regarding the way it is handling the Anglophone Crisis.

The IMF’s resolutions on Cameroon are eagerly awaited by many.
