Agbor Balla Talks Anglophone Crisis at UN Human Rights Council

Barrister Nkongho Felix Agbor Balla is attending the 39th session of the Human Right Council of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

During his Oral Submission yesterday, the rights defender highlighted cases of human rights abuses in the North West and South West regions which have brought untold hardship to the minority English speaking Cameroonians.

He said over 410,000 people are internally displaced, more than 126 villages burnt down by government forces and at least 50,000 refugees in Nigeria.

He said the Human Rights Watch Canada has demanded the unconditional release of lawyers, teachers, journalists and all arrested in connection with the ongoing crisis and ensure the safe return of those internally and externally displaced.

Agbor Balla is Founder/President of the Center for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa.
