Ako sub division: fear of the unknown

Fresh fighting has erupted in Akwaja and Nzibie villages in Ako sub division in the North West region of Cameroon. This comes after a military man and a fighter of the ambazonia defense forces were killed at a place called Ntombe last week.

A source has told Mimi Mefo Info that military men from Nkambe, Donga Mantung division invaded Akwaja village in search of ambazonia fighters. In the process, at least twenty three houses and shops were razed down.

The attack has forced most of the villagers to flee back to Taraba state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria where they had earlier taken refuge for several months.
As the military continues to hunt restoration forces called “Sparta Defense Unit Ako”, all activities of the local population have been paralyzed. No school has functioned in the sub division since the beginning of the 2019/2020 academic year.

Some parents in Ako Sub division have expressed anger over the activities of some fighters who ordered them to remove their children earlier registered in schools in Nkambe where there is relative calm. Another parent attests how he was beaten and molested for sending his two kids to school, allegations some Amba fighters in the sub division have described as false.

Ako sub division remains enclaved with no electricity a deplorable state of roads and lack of portable water.
