All motorcycles in the Cameroon territory are required to be matriculated by January 2022.
The announcement was made during a security meeting chaired by Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji.
Present at the Tuesday’s meeting was the Governor of the Littoral Region, the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri, and other administrative authorities.
The reason for the meeting was to find further measures to fight rising crime level particularly the phenomenon of ‘Les Microbes’ which has put the city of Douala on the edge.
In this light, it was decided that all motorcycles purchased must be registered before circulation.
The decision comes a day after Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, Governor of the Littoral Region limited working hours for commercial bikers from midnight to 6:00AM.
It was equally revealed in the meeting that out of the 1280 bikes which have so far been impounded by the security forces in the authorities in the Littoral, only two of them are registered.
