Some men in the Meme Division, South West Region believed to be military men are alleged to have shot and killed 5 persons, wounding 5 others.

One of the victims, a woman from Barombi Kotto, in the Mbonge Subdivision is believed to have been hit by a bullet on September 26 in her sleep. She died on the road as she was being rushed to the hospital in Kumba. A second victim is believed to have had his leg shattered by a bullet in the same shootout.

In the same vein, the Guardian Post Newspaper reports that at least 4 youths were shot and killed in Kumba between Friday and Saturday, September 25, 2021, with the first recorded incident happening in Kosala.

Media reports say the case of the Kosala killing involved a group of young men who were drinking palm wine and playing cards in a makeshift building. Suddenly an avalanche of bullets poured on them, killing two on the spot and injuring a third.

The last incident which happened at the Lawyer Enow Street involved some young men who were caught smoking marijuana. The military men allegedly fired shots at the group, killing two of them and injuring another, now recurving treatment.

Government is yet to make any official comment on the latest shooting.
