By Soulemanu Buba

Two Gendarmerie officers have met death in the hands of suspected separatist fighters in Fonfuka, Bum Sub Division, Boyo Division of the restive Northwest Regions of Cameroon.

We also gathered on the ground that the head of one of the uniforms officers and other body parts were chopped off.

Reports further say they were onboard a motor bike riding to a cattle market in that area where they were attacked.

The bodies we are told were later taken and preserved in a mortuary in Nkambe, a source revealed.

Though accusing fingers are pointing at separatist fighters, they are those who are of the opinion that the soldiers were killed by suspected cattle rearers who have always accused government forces of extortion.

“We pay alot of money to these Gendarmerie Officers especially the assistant brigade commander who was also killed. When we refused to give, they take it at gun point and even accused of supporting Amba simple because we feed our cattle in the bush and don’t tell them where the boys are hidding, ” Ousman, a native of Fonfuka told MMI.

Both separatist fighters and soldiers have on several occasions been accused of extorting huge sums of money from cattle rearers, something the victims have never appreciated.
