American Simone Biles is now world’s most decorated gymnast

American Simone Biles Owens has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the most decorated gymnast in history. She accomplished this milestone by securing her second gold medal at the World Gymnastics Championships.

After assisting the United States in achieving a remarkable seventh consecutive team title earlier this week, the 26-year-old athlete secured the all-around gold in Belgium on Friday.

She has a total of 34 world and Olympic medals, which is a greater number than any other gymnast, regardless of gender.

Biles won the gold medal with a score of 58.399 points.

In the end, she had a higher score than the defending champion, Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade (56.766), and her American teammate Shilese Jones (56.332) won bronze.

Biles’ return to international competition in Antwerp marked an impressive milestone in her career. This event was her first appearance since taking a two-year break from the sport to prioritize her mental health.

She achieved her sixth all-around world title, bringing her total number of world medals to 27, with an impressive 21 of them being gold.

She plans to continue her efforts over the weekend, aiming to secure a spot on the podium in four other events during the apparatus finals.

Biles’ remarkable performance is occurring with less than 10 months remaining until the Olympics in Paris.

Who is Simone Biles?

“I am not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I am the first Simone Biles,” declared the American gymnastics sensation at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and her statement resonated deeply. At just 26 years old, Biles has already earned a place in the highly esteemed category of legendary Olympians, alongside renowned athletes such as the Jamaican sprinter and American swimmer. She is already considered the greatest gymnast of all time. However, she is also pursuing her own unique approach.

Biles gained widespread recognition in 2013 when she achieved remarkable success at the age of 16, winning two gold medals at the World Championships, including the prestigious all-around title. She continued her winning streak by earning four gold medals in the 2014 World Championships and then another four gold medals in the 2015 World Championships.

When Rio 2016 arrived, it was her first Olympics, but she was already a superstar and considered the top favourite to win the title. She lived up to expectations: Biles achieved gold medals in the all-around, team, vault, and floor events and secured a bronze medal on the beam.

Her dominance in gymnastics is derived from her exceptional mastery of the basics. Standing at just 4 feet 8 inches tall, she possesses the remarkable athletic ability and power, complemented by a low centre of gravity. These physical attributes make her ideally suited to excel as the ultimate gymnast. With her exceptional dedication, remarkable creativity in her craft, and captivating personality, she is nearly invincible.
