Amougou Belinga seizes Appeal Court to demand release from Kondengui

The hearing of an appeal for provisional release filed by detained billionaire Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga at the Centre Region Court of Appeal has been adjourned to April 13.

Belinga was scheduled to appear before the Court this Thursday, March 23, after he appealed for provisional release from the Kondengui Prison in Yaounde.

MMI learned Belinga seized the Court of Appeal after his request was rejected by the Yaounde Military Court.

Following today’s adjournment of the case, Belinga was escorted back to the Yaounde Central Prison, Kondengui, where he has been remanded since March 4, on charges of complicity in the torture of Journalist Martinez Zogo.

When he will be returning to the Court of Appeal on April 13, Belinga must have spent 66 days behind bars in connection with the murder of Martinez Zogo.

The media mogul is being detained alongside over a dozen others, including secret service boss Maxime Eko Eko.
