Far North: At least three soldiers perish in mine explosion

At least three soldiers have been killed in a mine explosion that took place on March 21, 2023, in Kolofata, a locality of the Mayo Sava Division, Far North region of Cameroon.

The information was made public by the population and confirmed by the French newspaper L’Oeil du Sahel.

According to information gathered by MMI, the mine exploded while a vehicle belonging to the BIR was passing by. Three soldiers died and several others were injured.

Target of Boko Haram attacks since 2013, the Far North region has been calm for several years. This new attack is likely to create panic in this locality where life was gradually resuming after several years of war.

As of 2016, the war against Boko Haram had left 1,500 dead, 155,000 displaced, and 73,000 refugees.
