Anglophone Crisis: Christopher Fomunyoh, Other Experts Demand Third Party Mediation To Resolve Crisis

Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, Senior Associate for Africa at the National Democratic Institute, Washington, USA, has joined his voice with some Democracy, Peace, and Security experts to demand a third-party mediation in the resolution to the current Anglophone crisis in Cameroon

These demands were made via a video conference organized by the Nkafu Policy Institute, a think tank of the Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation.

The purpose of this discourse which happened on January 27, 2022, was to involve Pan Africanists and other stakeholders in discussions that examine and assess the role and contribution of Africans in the resolution of their problems without soliciting foreign aid.

According to Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, “No conflict has been resolved without efforts of other countries and done outside of that country,” he also added, “Five years on, I am dumbfounded that the conflict in Cameroon is still treated like we are in 2016.

There is a need for an urgent mediated effort on the crisis and there are countries who can take that challenge.”

Suggestions in the past decade have also had it that Africans would do better if they forged a path in all spheres that was independent of Western influence.

To Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, “Africa needs to define its problems so it can include the rest of the world. Africa needs to take its space on the global stage and we have all the resources needed.”
