The people of Esu, a village in Menchum Division of the North West region, are demanding justice for their Fon, who was killed one year ago.
They regret that, for one year and counting, no investigations have been carried out to hold perpetrators accountable.
Thursday March 9, 2023 marked exactly one year since Fon Kum Achuo II was attacked and killed alongside his first wife.
His second wife survived the attack, sustaining injuries, but the hurt and despair linger on, with locals calling for justice.
Local sources said suspected armed Fulani herdsmen were responsible for the attack. Other sources blamed the ongoing Anglophone Crisis, particularly Separatists, who are fighting for an independent state called ‘Ambazonia’.
“Today, March 9, marks a year since the Fon of Esu was brutally murdered, and till date, no justice has been rendered,” a villager and a source close to the palace lamented.
He said they will not allow a new Fon to be crowned if justice is served for the late Fon
“We, the people of Esu, have decided that there is no justice for our fon, no fon in Esu,” he added.
