The people of Kom, in the Boyo Division, North West Region of Cameroon are bearing the brunt of another imposed Separatist lockdown as activities go on a total standstill.

Separatists also known as ‘Amba fighters’ have called for a 3 weeks total lockdown in Kom, paralyzing all forms of movements into and out of the village.

Travelers and business persons have complained for months of the damaging effects of the recurrent lockdowns.

The lockdowns also means accessibility to necessary amenities like hospitals is greatly cut down for patients especially.

It is the case with a patient whose critical condition meant he practically had to be transported from the Belo health center to the Mbingo hospital on a wheelbarrow.

“This sick man was transfered from Belo health center to Mbingo hospital and the only means to rescue the life is to used a wheelbarow since there is no movement of bike or motor,” said a local.

Transporters who in the past have tried to defy these lockdowns have suffered damning consequences. Several drivers have been killed by separatists, and many others kidnapped and their cars burnt.
