By Amina Hilda

The defense team of the late Ngule Linus Fonteh, a student who was killed by Cameroon government forces has revealed that an independent autopsy will be carried out by the deceased’s family.

The autopsy according to a document signed on July 3 by Amungwa Tanyi on behalf of the defense team stated that the autopsy would be carried out by the family to, “ascertain the cause of the death.”

According to the document, Ngule Linus alongside his roommate Mboh Jeres were abducted by the Military Security Service (SEMIL) of the Buea brigade where Linus died a few hours later.

“His body was conveyed via a military Toyota Pickup property of SEMIL and deposited at the mortuary of the Regional Hospital Buea at 01 a.m. on the 16th of March 2023,” the document revealed.

A court order according to the defense team was signed on June 23, 2023, which legally permitted the release of the corpse previously sealed by the government to the family.

As a result, the removal of the corpse has been programmed for Thursday, July 6th, 2023, at 4 pm, after the autopsy has been carried out.

Meanwhile,  Mboh Jeres is still maintained under custody by the Military Security (SEMIL) of the Buea brigade to date.

Ngule Linus Fonteh was an International Relations and Conflict Resolutions student at the University of Buea.
