Anglophone Crisis: Primary school teacher killed in Nkambe for taking part in National Youth Day festivities.

By David Atangana

A primary school teacher whose name MMI got as Bantar Samuel has reportedly been shot death in Ngi-Njap, a village in Nkambe Central Sub-Division, Donga Mantung Division Cameroon’s restive North West region.

He was killed on Thursday February 16, 2023.

Sources say he was targeted and killed by Suspected Separatist fighters — for allegedly taking part in organization of National Youth Day festivities in Njap village, which took place on February 11, 2023.

Separatists fighting to form a break away state from Cameroon called ‘Ambazonia’ had called for a lockdown in the country’s Anglophone Regions before and during the National Youth Day.

The pro-Separatist fighters maintained that defaulters would “not go unpunished.”

“It is really painful here. This man was killed by the Ambazonian fighters for taking part in the 11th of February festivities,” a local told MMI.

“He was merely doing his job,” our source lamented.

No separatist group has, however, claimed responsibility for the killing.

Locals say Bantar Samuel was a hardworking teacher determined and committed to doing his job.

His murder comes few days after five workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) were brutally murdered by Separatists in Tiko, South West Region for “failing to respect ghost town rules.”

Meanwhile gunshots were reported in the said locality and neighbouring villages on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
