Anglophone crisis: SDO lifts ban on circulation of motorbikes in Bali after tussle between Amba boys, security forces

The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh has issued a prefectorial lifting a ban placed on the circulation of motorbikes within the entire Bali subdivision.

The ban was put in place some three months ago.

The communique which copied the Divisional Officer of Bali subdivision, the Gendarmerie company commander in Bali, and the commissioner of the Bali Special branch police station circulated Tuesday.

Days after the ban was instituted some three months ago, separatist fighters in Bali had for their part banned the circulation of vehicles within the subdivision.

A ban that saw inhabitants trekking to and from Bamenda due to the absence of vehicles.

Hours after the SDO’s communique lifting the ban was made public, the separatist fighters also sent out an audio message announcing the resumption of circulation on the road except for heavy-duty trucks.

The decision by both parties has been greeted with a lot of joy by business persons and the local population that was subjected to suffering for the past three months.

Business persons had to device other routes to transport their goods to Bamenda.

The SDO’s ban went into effect on July 20th, 2021 after separatist fighters ambushed a police van killing 6 police officers.
