Some Anglophone inmates at the Kondengui prison in Yaounde have decried the corrupt nature of the release process of detainees at the facility. During the latest release of some Anglophones as declared by the Head of State, Paul Biya, the detainees say some three cases on the list were not handled adequately.
One name they say, was repeated twice and a third added despite the name’s owner having been released way back.
One of the names on the list, they add was that of an inmate who never took part at all in the prison riots for which they have been pardoned and was not even taken to court for final formalities prior to their release like the rest of them.
This they say, could either be a plot to keep three of the inmates that was supposed to be released in detention, or possibly trade off the positions for other gains.
