Bernard Muna dies at 79

It is a sad day for the Muna family following news of the death of its eldest son, Bernard Muna.

The 79-years-old is said to have died this Sunday, October 6, 2019 in Yaounde.

The family is yet to issue an official statement, but Alice Sadio, leader of the AFP party with whom he has worked for years wrote on her Facebook page: “farewell my mentor, Bernard Muna”.

Bernard Muna is a prominent Cameroonian lawyer, magistrate and politician. He served as Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 1997 to 2002. He was a candidate for the 2011 Presidential elections in Cameroon. His siblings are Barrister Akere Muna, 2018 presidential candidate and Ama Tutu Muna, former Minister of Arts and culture in Cameroon.

This is the second calamity befalling the Muna family this year.

On Sunday February 24, 2019, Prof Walinjom F. Muna died in Paris, France. The father of one, was one of Cameroon’s celebrated cardiologists.

He was fifth child of Muna family.
